A dying symbol-Irreparable loss

The night is still
In the jungles midst
With darkness around
By silence they are kissed.

As the night begins its reign
The tigers regal and fierce
Being in the jungle's heart
Begin their nocturnal chase.

With lightning swift speed
And flaming yellow eyes
With supple steady feet
And merging sunny hide

The sight of one leap
Followed by a run
Is quite difficult
For any prey to outrun

After the night's fiesta
Comes the day's siesta
Resting below a shade
And done with the day's trade
It lays down to rest.

Here comes the band of poachers
With traps,guns and gears
Set up an iniquitous plot
Vile enough to bring out tears.

As the night falls
And the tiger begins its move
The tiger becomes a prey
To the nabber's ploy
Followed by the cruel torture

Forceful and sinful
The tiger lays dead
With an unfulfilled and disgruntled heart.

Wouldn't we ponder over this thought
My friends
That this magnificent bounty
Is at a mortal stake
If at all you care
Raise your voice over this atrocious vice
Realize the fact that tigers are dying
Do something apart from grieving and crying...........

The lonely widow

The lonely widow

Winter set in,her skin cold and pale

Dry leaves pirouetted in the open

Chilly hands tucked into pockets

High neck sweaters warmed men

Skateboarders pacing through the streets

With coffee shops brewing with people

A few red roses were plucked

From Miss Clare's garden

Neatly placed in the vase

After the thorns were cut

Now in the prime of withered old age

Aged four score

Sombre in solitude's lap

With joy never known

The door rang occasionally

But only for the news

Of parting friends and relatives

And her beloved ones in the grave

Some nights are colder

Than the other nights

When she dreams but of her mate

Whom she lost to sheer fate

That night,she remembered

Still distinct and living

When in her youth ,he left for war

And returned only the wedding ring

Today she sits alone by the fire

Watching her hands in sorrow lower

As roses shrink

By every passing hour

Seasons offer no solace

To a dead heart

While eager eyes wait to retire

Just wishing to depart.....
